AN INTRODUCTION TO CALLIGRAPHY & ILLUMINATED LETTERS WORKSHOP
Saturdays April 18 & 25, May 2, 9 & 16: 1:30—4:00
5 Weeks of Two and 1/2 Hour Sessions--$185.

Have you thought about using words in handmade books, cards or in your art...
Have you ever wanted to to use gold in your work but wondered where to begin.
This class requires no previous artistic skills and is a great way to learn about an exciting art field.
Students will learn about Copperplate, Blackletter and contemporary work,
with an introduction to Illuminated and tooled raised gold letters.
The Italic font will be studied as a base for all lettering arts. Students will learn
using a broad edge fountain pen at a pace that allows them to gain confidence.
Lower and upper case letters, numbers and punctuation will be incorporated into finished layouts.

Suzanne has taught calligraphy for many years and studied with many contemporary masters.
Max 4 per workshop—$100. deposit by check is required to hold a place. Calligraphy supplies

PAINTING A TULIP IN FINE FILIGREE (Quilling)
Saturday, May 2: 9:30—12:30
All quilling supplies will be provided $55.
Learn a way to “paint” a three-dimensional tulip with paper strips, in this quilling workshop.
Study the techniques of wheatear coils, gridded looping, shaping of pieces, the assembly of pieces, and the process involved in designing such a flower. At the end of the workshop, you will walk away with a knowledge of quilling techniques and a beautiful fine filligree tilip mounted on matt board to celebrate spring.
