EXHIBITS & WORKSHOPS 2026:

Have you ever wanted to to use gold in your work but wondered where to begin. ​

AN INTRODUCTION TO CALLIGRAPHY & ILLUMINATED LETTERS WORKSHOP 
​with Suzanne Lee

​5 Weeks of Two and 1/2 Hour Sessions--$185. 
​*10 % 0ff if you are an artist taking this class

This class requires no previous artistic skills and is a great way to learn about an exciting art field.
Students will learn about Copperplate, Blackletter and contemporary work,
with an introduction
 to Illuminated and tooled raised gold letters.

The Italic font will be studied as a base for all lettering arts.  Students will learn
using
 a broad edge fountain pen at a pace that allows them to gain confidence.
Lower and upper case letters, numbers and punctuation will be incorporated into finished layouts. 

​Calligraphy is a beautiful and useful artistic technique,
 fun and meditative
Suzanne has taught calligraphy for many years and ​studied with many contemporary masters. 

​Max 4 per workshop​—$100. deposit by check is required to  hold a place.  Calligraphy supplies
should be brought to the first class—all gold supplies will be provided.

A RAISED AND TOOLED GOLD LEAF WORKSHOP
Mondays, February 9, 16 & 23*:  9:30—12:00

Saturdays, February 14, 21 & 28*:  1:30—4:00
​
​Two Weeks of Two & 1/2 Hour Sessions—$115. 
*Optional Two Hour third class +$25

Have you ever wanted to learn how to use gold in your work... 
but wondered where to begin.

It is fun and easy and in this class you will learn all about using raised gold leaf and how to tool it:
​Explanation of transfer leaf—gold comes in many colors

Demonstration of size application and adding multiple coats 
Learn freehand brushing with size

See how to apply transfer gold leaf
Demonstration of tools used in tooling gold leaf and other mediums
Use of Spectralite and other golds with brush and dip pens
Individual discussion of future projects to understand how raised gold leaf could be incorporated 
Ordering gold leaf and best leaf suppliers


A FLORAL FINE FILIGREE (Quilling) WORKSHOP  
​Saturday, February 7:  1:30—3:30 
​
All  quilling supplies will be provided ​$45.00

Learn how to create beautiful floral quilling shapes, how to assemble individual pieces and
concepts of shading to give flat quilling a 3-D effect. By the end of the workshop,
you will have three roses. (open flower, part open, and rose bud)
If you wish to make a Valentine card with your florals there are 
 three handwritten calligraphy messages in assorted colors to select from
to personalize your card for a special person.

"Take Shape"

LAUREN OLITSKI is a painter, sculptor and writer, dividing her time between a summer
cottage on a lake in New Hampshire, and her home in rural Vermont.
She is known for her vigorous, often thickly impastoed, large-scale acrylic paintings.
Working representationally as well as in an abstract format, Lauren has had numerous
exhibitions in the US and Canada, including twenty solo exhibitions.

"Take Shape," Lauren’s most recent body of work, started in the first year of the
pandemic, pushes the edge of the rectangle, playing with with color, surface and shape.​
